25 Quick Ways to Increase Conversions on your Website

Getting traffic on your website is great, but if that traffic doesn’t convert, it’s almost useless. Make sure that you’re doing all you can to make your website visitors click that magic “Buy” button! This blog post has 25 quick ways to increase conversions on your website. So, grab your coffee and let’s get to it.

  1. Use buttons instead of links.

Having a clear call-to-action is critical to getting your website users to actually take action. Effective call-to-action buttons are easy to read and stand out from the rest of the page.

  1. Use a chat tool.

Having a live chat box on your website can help users navigate through your pages and ask questions when they need help. This is also a great way to ask for an email address so that you can start building up your email list. I use HubSpot’s live chat, and it is awesome.

  1. Use as few fields as possible.

When building a form or including one on your website, ask for ONLY the things you really need. For example, you don’t really need someone’s phone number for them to sign up for your newsletter.

  1. Offer a great newsletter.

Speaking of newsletters, offer an amazing one with freebies, deals, and other valuable content. When you can offer helpful information that people crave, prospective customers will want to sign up.

  1. Use testimonials to build trust.

No matter what you’re selling, social proof is a game changer. Your conversion rate will improve if you can show website users that other customers LOVE your product or service.

  1. Sell the experience, not the product.

A classic Sales tip that you’ve probably heard before. But it’s true. People prefer to hear about the solution you can provide to help solve their problems, rather than the sales pitch about your product.

  1. Tell visitors exactly what they’re getting.

Try to be as straight up as you can. Tell website users everything they need to show about your product. Or better yet, show them with images and videos.

  1. Include a clear value proposition.

Tell your website visitors why your product or service is better than anyone else’s. Why is it unique? What will they get from your product that they won’t get anywhere else?

  1. Get your visitors excited!

Use emotionally-charged language, fun ideas, and exceptional storytelling to get your website users hooked.

  1. Use videos to humanize your brand.

Try including tutorials, BTS footage, social media clips, how-to videos, client video testimonials and more to add a face to your brand.

  1. Give your visitors tunnel-vision.

Start big picture, then get smaller and smaller. Remove anything from your landing pages that could distract the user from finding your product or contacting you. You run this show!

  1. Include contact info.

Make sure your website visitors know how to take the next step when they’re ready. This could be through a form, social media integration, email, phone number, etc.

  1. Don’t make registration required.

Having visitors register when they are trying to download a freebie or start a trial is a big deterrent. Allow your potential customers to try your offering with no strings attached, and make them fall in love and come back for more.

  1. Match your copy’s reading level to your audience.

Using difficult language, or language that is too simple, can push potential customers away. Make sure the language you use on your site matches up with the reading level of your target audience. Are you writing your own website copy? Check out these writer’s block tips.

  1. Don’t offer too many options.

When there are too many options on the page, users can get distracted or even overwhelmed. Be incredibly clear about what the next step is and why someone would want to take it.

  1. Use directional cues.

Experiment with micro-animations to direct your users to important areas on the page. Be careful here though – too much animation can be distracting.

  1. Use high-quality images.

Striking images are a big trend right now. Using crisp, high quality images that relate to your content help users visualize what life might be like with your product.

  1. Be clear in your calls-to-action.

Try to be as clear as possible when you are creating call-to-action buttons. What exactly does the call-to-action get the user? For example, “learn more” isn’t very clear. Something like “reserve your seat” or “download ebook” is much more direct.

  1. Optimize your page design.

88% of website users are less likely to return after having a bad experience on a website. In order to keep visitors engaged, ensure that your page design and user experience is beautiful and seamless.

  1. Offer a money-back guarantee.

Offering a money-back guarantee will help build trust with your users and will reduce risk of purchasing in their eyes. This will encourage them to buy. Just make sure that your product is good enough that they won’t return it!

  1. Speed up your website.

40% of people abandon a website that takes more than 3 seconds to load. You’re shooting yourself in the foot if your website takes too long to load! Ask a web developer to help increase your page speed, and you may end up getting more traffic on your site.

  1. Include additional value in your newsletter.

Encourage website visitors to join a newsletter in exchange for a value offer. This could be a discount on your services, a coupon code, or a freebie. This is a great way to warm leads up and get them ready to purchase your product. Try not to be overly sales-y, but instead provide something that subscribers will find helpful.

  1. Cut the jargon.

People are less likely to continue exploring your website, let alone buy your product, if they don’t understand your offer. Make sure that the benefits of your solution are clear as day.

  1. Make it easy to buy from you.

People are more likely to continue with purchasing your product if the process is easy and requires little effort. Get rid of any and all roadblocks to ensure the buyer journey is seamless.

  1. Test, test, test!

The key to making sure your audience resonates with the content and offer you are giving them is by testing. Test out different images, different lengths of copy and different CTAs to find out what your audience wants to see.

7 Proven Strategies to Triple Your Blog Traffic in 3 Months

Looking to increase blog traffic? Here are the 7 proven strategies I used to triple my blog traffic in just 3 months!

My first blog post on my very first website had 1 view. (And it was my mom). Yep, I said it – but you gotta start somewhere!

Since the beginning of SL Creative, I have been writing blog post after blog post with no real strategy or thought process. Whenever I felt like writing, I wrote. And sometimes months would go by that I didn’t publish a thing.

I wondered why I didn’t get results.

It was only until the beginning of 2020 when I relaunched SL Creative that I started to spend more time on the things that help to increase my brand awareness online.

Blogging is one of them.

Within 3 months, my blog views more than tripled. Here’s a screenshot from Google Analytics:

I used these 7 tactics to increase blog traffic in just 3 months, and therefore increase my brand exposure online.

  1. Blog Regularly

There are a TON of theories floating around online about how you can increase blog traffic. However, no one will argue that original, high-quality content with a few powerful keywords is the best place to start.

Blogs that have more frequent and regular posting schedules tend to build an audience of loyal readers faster. Blogging regularly is the single most important thing you can do to increase your website’s SEO (Search Engine Optimization).

All the SEO strategies in the world won’t help you unless you are consistently adding content to your site, so get writing! (Or, let’s talk about how SL Creative can help).

  1. Use Keywords in your blog posts

Using keywords is a great way to ensure that you are attracting the right readers to your blog. Tools like SEMRush are useful to research a few powerful keywords, and ensure that those are targeted in your blog posts. Let’s break it down:

Keywords are words or phrases that are used to match your blog content with the terms that people are searching for.

When someone searches for “things to do in Turks and Caicos”, and your most recent blog post uses this keyword/phrase effectively, then your blog post is more likely to pop up in their search results.

This means that not only will you get more visitors to your blog, but you’ll also get more qualified visitors that are interested in reading (or even sharing) your post.

  1. Connect to your Community

One of the most powerful ways to increase your readership is to connect to your community! What I mean by that is – send out an email to your email list when you’ve published a new blog post. Spread the word on social media. Don’t be afraid to bug your friends, family or friendly clients! If your blog posts are high-quality and valuable, your audience might even want to share them to their networks and do some of the outreach work for you.

  1. Read and comment on other blogs

Increase blog traffic by returning the favour. If you found a blog post to be helpful or interesting, leave a comment. Blogging is all about interacting with others and engaging in online discussions, and by leaving a comment, other bloggers (and blog readers) may check back to see what your site is all about. Plus, you can make some pretty awesome connections in the mean time!

  1. Link to other blogs

Linking to internal pages (i.e. other blog posts on your site) improves your SEO because it helps to connect your site, and gives Google a better understanding of your website structure. External page links help increase your blog traffic as well, because they can add credibility and additional value to your content.

Not to mention, the author of that original resource will get a notification in their analytics that you have linked to their post. They may check out your post to see what you said.

  1. Write share-worthy content

You can increase blog traffic by making your blog work for you. When you create well-written content that solves the exact problem your reader has, they may share it with their friends. And those friends might share it. And so on (and so on). Your blog post may travel hundreds of thousands of internet miles and reach the perfect people without you having to lift a finger!

  1. Don’t get discouraged!

Mastering the perfect blog post takes time and practice. A lot of bloggers are likely still perfecting their craft (myself included), and they definitely weren’t overnight successes. So, don’t get discouraged by a slow start. Continually posting and testing to see what your readers prefer will help to shape your blog. Keep at it!

If you’re looking to increase your site traffic for more leads, check out this blog post that has 25 quick ways to increase conversions.

5 Essential Reasons Why Your Business Needs a Mobile-Friendly Website

Mobile-friendly, or ‘responsive’ design is a “big thing” in web design right now. But if you’re not a designer or developer, you might be wondering what this term means, or why it’s important. You might also be wondering if your business’s website even needs to be responsive. Well, let me tell you that having a responsive website is no longer just an option – if you want to keep up with the market and other competitors, it’s a requirement.

First of all, what is responsive design?

Responsive design is a way of building a website so that content is automatically scaled up or down to fit professionally on different screen sizes. This includes hundreds of different devices, from phones, laptops, tablets and giant monitors, all with varying screen dimensions. The way that these different devices display information on the screen can be very different because of the dimensions.

The ultimate goal of having a responsive website is to give users a seamless experience when visiting a website. It is often difficult to navigate websites that are not responsive – usually involving a lot of scrolling, missed content, cropped images or awkward formatting. This makes it frustrating for users to get the info they need. Have you ever been looking through a website and had to scroll left to right because the content didn’t fit on your phone screen?

Exactly. This can be frustrating and actually deters people away from websites.

Responsive website design replaces the need to create a separate website dedicated to mobile users – now, one website can be built that automatically matches the device being used.

So, why does your business need a responsive website?

1. To target the majority of internet users

One of the most powerful tools in the new age of web development is having a mobile-friendly website. Why? Because mobile traffic is responsible for over 50% of total internet traffic – and this number is expected to rise. This means that more and more people are beginning to not only use their phone for the ‘gram, but they’re also making more purchases directly from their phone. Mobile e-commerce will be responsible for about 67% of total e-commerce sales by 2021. That’s why now, more than ever, it is imperative that your website is mobile-friendly to accommodate people on their phones. You’ll be able to target the majority of internet users if your business’s website is optimized for phones.

  1. Lower Cost and Website Maintenance Fees

Maintaining and updating separate sites for mobile, desktop and tablet audiences gets expensive… quickly. By the time you do the same update on all 3 different versions of the site, you’re racking up hours with your developer like no one’s business.

Your business can actually save money by using responsive design, and therefore only having to maintain a single site. The edits only have to be done once and will automatically be reflected on all screen sizes. The number of mobile users is only expected to increase, so it’s better in the long run that your business invests in a responsive website before your customers start asking for it.

  1. Support thumb scrollers

Yes, I see you! I often find myself scrolling through a recipe or blog post on my phone using only my thumb. Since phone screens are getting bigger and bigger, areas of websites are getting harder to reach. Try it real quick – pull out your phone and hold it in your right or left hand. Try to reach your thumb to the top corner on the opposite side. Straining?

Yes, it’s only a minor inconvenience to stretch your thumb to reach a button. But if visitors don’t find your website super easy to use, they might just give up. If there’s an important part of your website in that top corner, for example a call-to-action or button, your users will get annoyed that it’s a little hard to click. Thumb-friendly websites take responsive design one step further to make sure that even thumb-scrollers have a great experience.

  1. It’s all about the UX (user experience)

Having a clean, responsive website allows visitors to navigate through your site easily, and get the information they need quickly. If someone visits your website on their phone or tablet and the formatting is messed up or images are cut off, your business might come across as unprofessional. If your website isn’t built to accommodate mobile users, they might leave the site quickly and head over to a competitor’s website. Responsive web design offers a much better user experience, and leaves your website visitors with a great first impression of your business.

  1. Improve SEO (and your site’s exposure!)

Search Engine Optimization (or SEO) is a free way to get your website to the top of Google’s search results. Google crawls your business’s website and looks at a ton of different things in order to rank your website among their search results. Google looks at your overall website structure among a host of other things, and gives preference to websites that are the best of the best. Of course, this includes whether or not your website is responsive. If your website is mobile-friendly, this can give you a giant boost in search results, bringing you closer to the top of that list. The closer you are to the first page of Google’s search results increases your ability to get quality website visitors checking out your business.

Did you get red Xs? It’s time to consider a website refresh to make sure that you are accommodating people on their phones, tablets, or other devices.
