Emotional Entrepreneur – Results. Meaning. Celebrate.

Now that we have talked about all the inner work (visualizations, focus, emotions, etc.) and the outer work (inspired action), it’s time to talk about results.

Results

Simple rule: if it’s not what you want then, it’s not done yet.

I know we can get anxious when we don’t see the results that we seek. However, it is in our power to stay focused mentally on what we want until we receive it as we want it or better.

Sometimes, we tend to take score a little too soon. The “are we there yet?” habit repeats in our head, making us become very aware of where we are and continue to vibrate it hence, attract it. That causes us to stay in the same place because we are focused there. I know we mean well but if nothing inside us changes, nothing outside of us will change either.

Our job is to do our best to stay focused in our vision of what we want, while making peace with where we are and what we have, and then savour every idea, every action, and every accomplishment trusting we are on the right path.

But most of all, love yourself through it all. You are doing your best with what you have in the moment. You know it and you can trust it.

I made a video that I am sharing with you through the link below called “Loving yourself is the perfect recipe for success”:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Pxc3_RbxnQ&t=25s

Meaning

Results, or the lack of, have no meaning. They don’t mean we are not worthy or deserving. They don’t mean we are not doing things right. They don’t mean we should be working harder/better. They are just a reflection of our vibration hence, our thoughts and emotions. That is it.

In any case, we are the ones, the only ones, assigning any meaning to them.

Not long ago I read a phrase on a post in social media that said: There is no such thing as failure, only feedback. I loved it! It is so powerful to recognize that whatever is happening is just feedback from the universe telling us what we are attracting or creating so that we can adjust it in our vibration and attract it as we want it or better.

When I read that phrase I remember thinking that we would be much more willing to make “mistakes” if we learned to ignore other people’s opinions. And now that we know that the feedback from the universe can come in the form of people’s opinions, or in the results we get, or in the way we feel, then we can feel empowered by it because we know that since we attracted it, we can change it.

Celebrate!

As you move forward in your business, learn to celebrate every step you take, every idea, every action, and of course, every accomplishment.

We may have a habit of being goal oriented and only celebrate those occasions where goals are met although sometimes, not even in those cases a celebration or a recognition happens.

Let’s love ourselves to the point of celebrating every step, celebrating progress, celebrating ideas, celebrating achievements, celebrating starts and celebrating endings. For example celebrate that you did your meditation, and that you did your visualizations, and that you made sure to feel good before doing anything planned for the day, celebrate that you wrote your blog, celebrate that you had a new client and, so on.

When we seek those opportunities to celebrate and appreciate ourselves, our brain starts to work differently because now it is looking for opportunities for celebration instead of looking for opportunities for complaints or reprimands. It makes a big difference!

What do I mean by celebrating? Take a 5 min break and do a happy dance. Go to the mirror and tell yourself few times that you are proud of yourself. You can be as creative as you want. The point is not to create a distraction, the point is to love yourself and appreciate yourself throughout the journey all the way to the happy end goal.

Take care of your vibration

If we love ourselves unconditionally, we are able to feel good regardless of what is or not happening in our lives in the present moment.

It is a very important skill to feel good before getting the desired results. Why? Because we attract our desires by the way we feel. This is how we define what we receive in a way of manifestation including those goals and desires that we have.

Our job is the emotional result. We figure out how it feels to already have what we want, we enjoy it, we hold it stable then, it all starts flowing in.

I will dare to say that making sure you feel good triumphs any action you can take. So, make sure you do feel good and happy before taking any action and you will experience the leverage of being in alignment with the universe.

As we have spoken in previous blogs, we do not create by action alone, we create it all in our minds and as the universe plans it all out for us, it inspires us to take action. That inspired action is a completely different than massive action trying to make everything happen on our own.

I invite you to read my blog in the link below. It is called “Let’s have fun since we were born worthy!”:

Last advice

You have in your hands the opportunity to create something that is very you, your business. Even though what you do in your business, the service or product you provide is super important, this is also your chance to create your own environment.

Think about other businesses you have seen, whether you worked in the corporate world or not, you saw many ways to manage and handle a business. I am sure you made decisions of things you liked and things you would do different.

Well, this is your chance to apply all of that and truly create a dream business that includes a happy and healthy environment for you, your employees/contractors, your clients, your providers, and for anyone that crosses path with you and your business. What do you want to express to them?

In the link below I am sharing with you a blog that I wrote about a couple of entrepreneurs that inspired me greatly because they intentionally created a completely different business than what they experienced ever before. Here is the link:

Final note

It has been my pleasure to share these blogs with you and the Canadian Small Business Women Association community. I love what I do and in doing it, I also get gifts.

I am very grateful for the time you have spent with me and truly hope that these blogs have helped you in some way to live better and create your dream business.

I am going to leave you with another inspirational phrase I read and loved:

Hold on to your dreams, they know the way.

Emotional Entrepreneur – All about INSPIRED action

I belong to few groups on social media that focus on entrepreneurship. In one of those somebody posted the following question: What is your #1 money-making tip that ALL entrepreneurs need to hear?

The answers came from everywhere and with all kinds of tips. All the books one would need to read, all the courses to be taken, actual advices about investments, the path to follow to make money through real estate, talks about honesty and commitment, talks about budgeting, and so on. Pick any perspective or angle, and you bet the answer was there.

My answer was: You need to feel happy, at ease, free, abundant in order to attract it (money). You cannot attract abundance while feeling poor, or feeling lack. Once you are there, your actions will support your intention… (and then I added a little heart).

I think we can agree that all the answers are “correct”, right? They all work. However, I have to say that I was the only person who talked about our inner-work especially before taking any action.

Taking action with the right emotional state for me

In our previous blogs we have talked about beliefs, focus and, emotions. Let me take that information a step further. What we think about, and how we feel, always matches with what we attract or with what we experience in life. This is how we create our own reality.

Are you with me?

It’s not only important to make sure we feel good, as we spoke in previous blogs. It is very important to feel what we want to experience, in this very specific case, abundance of money.

As I said in my answer above, if I am feeling lack and take action feeling that way, what is it that I am attracting?

On the other hand, if I am feeling abundant and I take action feeling that way, what is it that I am attracting?

Can you see the difference?

This is the one of the big differences between massive action and inspired action.

Definitions: Massive action vs inspired action

Massive action is that action that drain us out. It is the working hard piece. It is an attempt to make things happen with action alone, as if we were not supported by the universe. It is that belief that says ‘I will just keep sending resumes and one day, one day, I will get my dream job’. It is the doing without the connection. It is the doing without trusting with certainty that what you want is yours. For many (!) people, massive action is a worth earning practice, is the “paying your dues” part of the equation and when you finally become deserving of what you want, if ever, what you want happens, although it is not for sure.

Inspiring action is the opposite of that. Inspired action is starting with the inner-work and that is already considered action, even though it may not be considered physical action. For example, include visualizations as part of your actions. You are working the energy, it is where it all starts. These are very important steps! The inspiration to take action then will come to you when you become familiar with what abundance feels like, or whatever it is that you want. Once you get where you want to be emotionally, the ideas start to come, the events, the people, start to show up and you just follow the thread. It is allowing what you want to happen and contributing with your inspired action. It is the doing with the connection. It is the doing trusting with certainty that what you want is yours. It is the having fun on the way to where I already know I am going.

Which one is more appealing to you?

Most importantly, which one do you believe delivers the best results for you?

Another difference

Another big difference is our ability or even interest to enjoy what we do as we take action, whether it is internal or external, meaning mental/emotional or physical.

When we are taking massive action, maybe at the beginning we are excited about it, hopefully. I think most of us have been there, where we get a new job and we are giving our best at it but things start to happen and we lose that eagerness and excitement and it can become a “let’s get it over with” attitude.

It becomes more of an exchange process. I work or do for you what we agreed on and you give me my money or what we agreed on.

When in reality the circumstances are different.

Let’s rewind a little bit. Now we know that it all starts with my thoughts and how I feel. I am using the very specific topic of money but in reality, it applies to everything in your business, or even to everything in your life. It’s just good to narrow it down to an example.

So, if I am feeling abundant and I am thinking mostly thoughts of abundance, ideas will come to me, sometimes to do something or sometimes just an idea to later develop. Either way, it is important to dare to trust that what we want, in this case abundance of money, is already yours.

How do we do that? As we practice those thoughts and feelings of abundance, we will feel as if that is the way it is now, not later, not in the future but now.

As we practice it and become steady in that “vibration” we start to expect it, just by being steady inside. As we start to expect it, we start experiencing it. We will start to become aware of abundance in the world and eventually, in our own life and experience.

We are deliberately creating abundance. We are deliberately creating it from the inside out. We are evoking those feelings of abundance deliberately to later experience them in our reality.

Can you see that you are not creating with your action? You are creating with your thoughts and focus and your actions are a way to contribute, to realize what you already created internally.

Does that give you goose bumps or what? It does make my mind explode every time I think about it. When I understood this concept of taking inspired action, whether it is working or visualizing, it had a completely different meaning and became a lot (a lot!) more enjoyable! I consciously take my time to do what I have to do, including writing this blog, and enjoy it, savour it, allow the inspiration to come and flow with it.

It has been a game changer for me and hope it becomes a game changer for you as well.

One more tip

Abraham Hicks says:

“If there is something that you have to do, resist the temptation to do it under duress. Ask yourself, ‘What’s the worst thing that would happen if I didn’t do this?’ And if you can get away with not doing it at all, don’t do it. And then imagine what it would feel like to have this done. Spend a day or two, if you can, just 15 minutes here, 5 minutes here, 2 minutes here, here and here, imagining it completed in a way that pleases you! And then, the next time you decide that you’re going to take action about it, the action is going to be a whole lot easier”.

We are talking about finding this balance, this flow that works for you. If there is struggle when taking action, it means you may be acting physically when it would be better to still be visualizing and allowing the energy to create momentum so that you can take action and participate in the creation process.

I am not encouraging you to be or feel lazy, I am encouraging you to listen to yourself and flow with what feels best for you and what you are creating. If the impulse or the nudge is about doing nothing physically at the moment, well, so be it. And let’s learn to be ok with that.

If the impulse or the nudge is about doing something then, feel free to jump right on it.

The purpose here is to participate in a creation process where you are the decision maker and the universe is the guide on the path. It is about enjoying the journey as much as the destination. If you take action under duress, it won’t be the case. You may still be able to receive what you want but, we are getting to a point where you don’t need to settle on what you want nor on how you will receive it. It is about having it all! It’s about having the goods and the awesome experiences because my friend, you don’t deserve anything less.

Emotional Entrepreneur – Set and get excited about your goals

The general idea of a goal is that the more specific the better. It may be true although, it can make it harder also. Let me explain.

You can say, I want to make a lot of money in my business to pay my bills and go on vacations once in a while. That sounds good and it’s not that specific. Does it make you feel good when you think about it? Or is it rather a safe way to set your goal so that you don’t feel disappointed or challenged by it?

In our previous blogs we’ve talked about focus, emotions, and vibration. So, as I apply that knowledge here I can tell you that if your vibration in general is one of abundance or joy, then you don’t need to be that specific on your goal with your words because what you are attracting is exactly that, joy and abundance.

However, it can be common that when we think (and feel) specifically about our business and our goals, including the very important aspect of money, our vibration can get wonky.

Here is where setting goals that make you feel excited, is very empowering.

Control or no control

Setting goals is a practice that has the intention of inspiring you, of motivating you, of getting you excited and fired up to work on your business.

In very general terms, there are two types of goals: The goals that you feel you have under control and the ones that you don’t know how to bring about hence, you need the help of the universe.

The goals that you feel you have under control are the ones that you know how to make them happen. For example, I will sell 3 packages and will get the $10,000 goal I want. Or, I will work 3 hours more this week to make my additional $1000 goal. You know what I am talking about, it is more of a math problem that you may feel like it’s under your control.

Then, we have the let-the-Universe-guide-me goal where you may have no idea how to go about it, or at least not the whole process but, usually these goals, can get you really excited.

I used to be a control freak (I’d like to think that I have been able to let go and trust more) so, the first kind of goals were my thing. Now, I still have those kinds of goals but I also allow myself to dream and visualize goals that I definitely need the universe’s input to manifest them. You may imagine that they are completely different experiences and the more we allow the universe to act in our behalf, the more we can see the world as one with unlimited possibilities.

Types of goals

In my world, there are 3 types of goals:

  • Emotional or spiritual goals
  • Physical goals
  • Mental goals

What?!

Yes, that many types of goals and we tend to focus primarily on the physical goals where we will receive the manifestations we are looking for, like money, clients, events, etc. Giving importance to the other two can make the experience of building your business that much better.

1- Emotional or spiritual goals:

To me, setting emotional goals is like the ground work you do before you build your “building”. It is as important, as anything else. As you set goals like, meditate daily, make my vibration/alignment a priority, make sure I feel good especially before I take action and, so on, you are setting yourself up for success. I don’t only mean success as in getting what you want. I mean it in a much bigger sense. I mean it in the sense that you will be one with your Inner-Being and in a conscious way you will get to enjoy the journey of creating your dream business while loving and taking care of yourself as a priority.

Not sure if you can see that it is a whole different view of it. You are not thinking I am alone and will work very hard to get it and let’s see what happens. Instead, you are aware that you are not alone, that you are guided and looked after and loved and what you want is a given then, you just get to trust and enjoy the process of creation and contributing with your inspired action.

You are taking the time to decide how you want to feel as you create your business. It is a very powerful goal! Who does that? Not that many people do and believe you me, it is one of the most important goals to make.

When you make the decision of how you want to feel as well, instead of just going around feeling reactive to the process and your interpretation of what’s happening, you are taking control of your vibration. Taking control of how you feel IS the name of the game!

Why? Because, as we spoke in our previous blogs, that way you are making sure you are in alignment with your Inner-Being and being whole. And now you see this is the reason why you know, and feel that you are not alone.

I am pretty sure you do know how you want to feel. For me, I have chosen to feel excited, to have my mind blown with surprises, to feel eager, to feel satisfied, to feel abundant, to feel creative, to feel like a creator, to feel the unconditional love for myself, to feel empowered, to feel inspired, to have tons of fun and more.

Does that sound appealing to you?

So, what are your emotional goals?

2- Physical goals:

Here we have all of those juicy goals we know very well. What are your income goals? Have you set your revenue goal after expenses and taxes? It is always good to know that number. Of course number of clients, events, your offerings, any courses you may provide but also some that you may take, etc.

I don’t think I need to go deep into this one since it seems to be the one we know and use the most.

3- Mental goals:

Your mental goals can be as simple as three decisions that I do my best to keep present in my everyday life:

  • Love yourself. As obvious as it may be, your inner-conversation has a lot to do with the way you feel moment by moment.
  • Have an attitude of appreciation. Look at your reality looking for what you like and appreciate, in you and your life and even in those people and experiences that cross your path.
  • Do your best to stay focused on your desires. But, important to remember, make sure that you stay focused on them in your mind in a way that makes you feel good. Aiming to feel good usually leads to assume the desire is already done.

All 3 types of goals are related. It is important to have goals (emotional and physical) in order to know how you want to feel (emotional) and then decide what to focus on (mental).

This brings me to the next topic: Why it is good to set goals.

Why it is good to set goals

Why do you want what you want? Not to justify it but to get excited about it. When you think of your next level of income or your next client, what is it that the experience will make you feel? Once you get to have it in your hands or in your reality, what is in there for you that you want to experience?

Will you feel empowered and abundant? Will you be super happy and confident?

As we go through the details of why we want what we want, we are becoming aware of what are some of our emotional goals, and we start to deliberately attract those desires (emotional and physical) by focusing on them while feeling good. We are giving ourselves the gifts of clarity and focus as we do this exercise alone.

Let’s remember that everything is created from the inside out. We cannot attract something that will make us feel empowered and abundant while we feel powerless and lacking/poor. We need to activate those feelings within us so that the attraction process begins guiding us to take inspired action to later receive what we want.

Another good reason to set goals, especially emotional goals, is that when the going gets tough, it is easier to be more general about what we want and focus on positive emotions rather than focusing on something we want and we don’t have. Evoking an emotion is simpler than fighting a reality that we don’t want in the moment. In those cases, having emotional goals helps us realign and improve how we feel to be able to continue moving forward.

Finally, I invite you to take note of all of the desires you want and actually manifest, not only the physical ones. When we become aware of emotional or even mental accomplishments, we are gaining momentum to allow more of our desires to come true.

Emotional Entrepreneur – Use your guidance system

Beliefs

In the world of personal development, there is a saying that goes like this: “If you want to grow, open a business”. And oh boy, it is true!

You may be faced with the beliefs you have about yourself, about what you want to do, about what it takes to create a business, and so on. Your mindset. Your self-worth and self-esteem will play a major role in the journey.

For example, if the belief is that women have to work harder than men, well, that will be the experience. If the belief is that it is really hard to make money in a business or at the beginning of a business, guess what?

On the other hand, if the belief is that the Universe supports you at every step, then, that will be the beautiful story you’ll live. If the belief is that abundance is available like the air we breathe, you can only imagine the fun you’ll be having as you create your business.

I know the next question may be: but how do I change those beliefs? A belief is nothing but a thought we have repeated in our mind many times. So many times, that we start seeing the evidence of it in our lives. We sometimes believe that we saw it first and then we believed it but probably, although unconsciously, it was the other way around. When we see the evidence of it, it usually becomes a solid rock belief that we don’t even have to think about for it to manifest in our lives.

So, to create new beliefs we need to follow the same practice but this time we’ll do it consciously. We’ll think and feel what it would be like to be, do, or have what we want. Our mind may try to take us on a ride to the pre-existing beliefs in there but, this is where the work is. Do your best to go back to what you want and feels good.

Emotions

I truly believe that everything is created from the inside out, including a business. By inside out I mean that we think and feel it first, whether consciously or unconsciously, and later on with our action as contribution, it will come true.

Emotions are how we know what we are creating, or attracting into our life.  Emotions are commonly misunderstood as weaknesses we have to deal with for being humans, even worse for women in many cases. The truth is, emotions are our guidance system!

We are all body, mind, and spirit. There is a tendency to give most of the attention to the body and the mind however, our spiritual side is as important. It is also through our emotions that we know how aligned, or not, we are with our spiritual side whether you call it soul, or God, or Inner-Being, or… the choice of words you may have.

Our Inner-Being is this part of us that sees beyond what our physical eyes can see. Our Inner-Being talks to the Universe and knows us to guide us and inspire us through that lovingly pre-paved path they carved for us. This communication is also known as intuition. As I am writing this, I can feel the infinite love that is projected to us all the time!

The better we feel the more aligned we are with our Inner-Being and the more we are open to receive everything, from guidance to each and every one of our desires.

The way we feel is also called our vibration. And we are naturally high-vibrating unless we are focused on something we don’t appreciate.

Focus

Let’s talk about focus now and how it connects with our emotions. What you focus on, expands. Basic principle that we may have experienced already. If we are able to become aware of what we are focusing on, by paying attention to the way we feel, we can deliberately seek to expand what we DO want.

That is the power of emotions.

We have the power to change the way we feel by making decisions of what we want, what beliefs we want to have, or even what we want to focus on, moment by moment. We are a magnet of the way we feel, and the way we feel comes from where we are focusing on, whether in our minds, or in our reality.

This applies to everything we want in life, including an amazing business.

When you think of your business, how do you feel about it? When you think of the goals you want within it, how do the goals feel? Do they feel expansive and fun? Or do they feel overwhelming?

When it comes to your business, your emotional content is worth working on, cleared up, and deliberately driven to those emotions you want to feel with that incredible business idea you want to experience.

Pandemic

Let’s be specific with what we are living right now. We were all hit hard with the news of the pandemic. For us, entrepreneurs, having to close down our business or not being able to do business as usual, was rather scary. Right?

It has never been more important that we take care of our emotional state. Remember, it’s all created from the inside out, not the other way around. So, in order for things to improve at home and in a larger scale, including yourself, your family, your business, your community, your country, the world, we need to evoke, inside of us, an improvement in our emotional state so we start attracting that change.

As explained before, it is very important to remember that emotions are our guidance system! So, let’s avoid anything that will cause us negative emotion and let’s stay focused on useful information, only for the necessary amount of time.

Other than that, try to seek for things to appreciate and if possible, make decisions about what you DO want. If you don’t know what you want, you for sure know how you want to feel. This is the perfect place to start. That is a decision on its own.

In moments like this one, where we may feel like we don’t have much control, our focus becomes even more important. Needless to say that focusing on what doesn’t feel good, which is also what we do not want, attracts more of that. Whereas focusing on what feels good helps you to connect with your inherent wellbeing, to stay in alignment with your spiritual side, to be whole, to align and allow what you do want and, with that high vibration, you are even helping more people than you would ever know.

I truly believe that our power resides in our ability to soothe ourselves! We can be proactive about our emotions instead to only being reactive about them.

It is not about not feeling negative emotions. It’s more about loving yourself by taking care of those negative emotions and then direct them, deliberately, to what you want. Honor yourself as you may need. Seek support, hit a cushion on a sofa, look for a coach, but once that’s taken care of, please move on.

Love yourself. Trust that everything will be all right. Use your focus wisely.

Money and the pandemic

Money is not only spiritually “approved”, but it is created spiritually first, internally, like everything else.

We talked about the premise “what you focus on, expands”. Money follows the same premise, you just need to make sure that you are focused in fact, in the ABUNDANCE of money.

How do you know if you are doing that? You guessed it, by the way you feel, by the emotions you are feeling as you think about it.

During the pandemic, we may have seen a lot of changes and news that do not show abundance, rather the opposite. There are big changes happening to all of us, individually and globally. Even though stressful stories may be louder during these times, if you look deep, you’ll find that there are also many beautiful stories that inspire us that anything is possible, even right now.

Personally, I know of people who got new jobs in the middle of the pandemic. I have heard news of businesses doing better, families getting bigger, and many many realizations that life is more than the busy calendar we used to have before this special time.

So, abundance has been there all along and it is our choice where we want to focus. As I said earlier: use your focus wisely.

As you focus on something that feels good, you are keeping your vibration high AND start to attract that same experience you focused on and enjoying.

It can be that simple. I say that we are “walking magic wands” just by using our focus. We are not magicians to make something appear out of thin air the moment we think of it but we are creators and creating our lives deliberately, I think is the biggest pleasure we came to experience in life.

Emotional Entrepreneur – Why do I have a business?

Or why do I want to have a business?

Making a decision to have a business is so much more than just making a living or finding a way to make a living.

It is so much more than a way to avoid having a job in the corporate world.

It is a way to make an impact.

It is a way to help or support people in a way you love.

It is a way to create an avenue to allow abundance to flow to you and of course, that includes money.

It is about having a say in what you want to do professionally and exercise that right.

It is about that part that you love so much, your why.

For example, for me, it is a way to have an impact.

It is a way to be a channel for the Universe.

It is a way to help people and LOVE seeing the results.

It is a way to have A LOT of fun!

It is a way to partner with the Universe, communicate with it and share its wisdom with my clients and be in the presence of that life being improved, of that impact!

You are inspired the business you have or want to have because you’ll love it, you’ll have a lot of fun with it and there’s more people that will benefit from it.

It’s a win-win situation for everyone! There’s no favours or no convincing, there’s only matching vibrations that will attract and benefit from each other!

Let’s understand, the goal is not only to create a business and be successful. The goal includes enjoying the process of creation, letting creativity flow through you and following it to have the most amazing experience in our business that will be a reflection of us, of who we are, and what we are about. In our own way.

There are few reasons, that I have seen, why people choose to become and entrepreneur instead of following the path of the corporate world.

One of the reasons is autonomy, which includes flexibility. As an entrepreneur you most likely want to be your own boss, you want to have a say on what your goals are and you want to have a say on your hours, and your deadlines. Usually a work-life balance is a key desire when opening a business.

However, it is important that we sit down and make decisions about what we want in our business. For example, do you want to work full time or do you want it part time? Do you want to hire people or do you want to do it all yourself? If you hire people, what soft and hard skills do you want on them, including your type of relationship with them?

It may not seem that important but if you don’t define what you want in your business, you’ll be creating a business that will look very much like your experiences in the corporate world. That could be a good thing. However, it’s not always the case.

Our beliefs about our professional life are there and will kick in if we don’t make brand new decisions and focus on them to allow them into our experience. If your belief is that hard work is mandatory and having a life is not possible when starting a business, well, then that will be your experience unless you make a different conscious choice. At the end, we are creating our business. Let’s dare to create it exactly as we want it, right?

And then of course, set the goals that most people focus on, what kind of income do you want? Projects? Marketing? And so on…

You may not need guidance on these types of goals but, I invite you to make your choices but to make them including your intuition as you make the decisions. Make sure they feel good when you set them. Make inspired decisions instead of the old I-have-to-prove-my-success-with-my-goals kind of decisions.

Another reason why people opt for entrepreneurship is purpose. We spoke about it at the beginning of this blog and it’s true. Purpose is a big driving force for many people in the opening of the business. It is also a big driving force as you grow in your business.

Let’s face it, there will be some times that will make us scratch our head. Hopefully not too hard. But if it hits us in a bad time or in a strong way, continuing with our business can be a consideration. Remembering our purpose can be the clarifying information we may need in those moments. The fuel that will just bring us to the other side of the stress or even, the energy that will help us decide that it is time to close.

Another reason I’ve seen people get into starting a business is financial success. This is a big one. It sometimes is considered as the purpose, the why of the business.

We spoke about it at the beginning as well. It’s not that it is a bad idea to make money your purpose. It’s just that passion may be a longer lasting and more of a driving force than safety and security. Please, don’t get me wrong, I do love money and want to make tons of it. That’s not up for discussion. What I am saying is where are you going to put your focus on when you think about your business?

Now that I actually said the words “I love money”, are you able to say that as well? Money has many taboos and negative charges, if you are using money as your purpose, you better be ok with loving money.

If your purpose is money alone, the way you chose to get it, what you provide with your business, is it fun? Is it at least enjoyable? Do you look forward to it? It can be hard to keep going if those answers are a no or muted. If the only “reward” is receiving money, it can be difficult not only to continue with your business but to actually make the money you want to make.

Again, I am not against money. I am no trying to convince you to be a charity (although you can if you want). All I am saying is look for more reasons than money to start/have your business. For sure the intention is to make money, but let’s spice it up with a reason that will make you put money as an awesome consequence and not as a reason alone.

Lastly, a very important reason I’ve seen people start or have a business is to prove to themselves, although it seems like they are trying to prove others, that they are worthy.

The perceived lack of worth can have many reasons. For some of us, it can be “blamed” on the fact that I am a woman. Sometimes, a role, like motherhood or other female roles can take a toll on our worth. Maybe being an immigrant makes us feel like we need to work harder than others to prove we are worthy of our new home country or to compensate that we don’t speak the language perfectly or our skin color is different and so on….

We usually don’t use those specific words but, when we believe we need to earn what we want, or we need to “pay our dues”, or whatever phrase you may use to justify hardship and struggle just means there’s a part of you that believes you are not worthy, otherwise no earning would be necessary.

What do I mean by hardship or struggle? In the world we live in, we have grown to be insensitive to how we feel. Furthermore, we have learned to ignore ourselves and just “push through” or “work hard” or “suck it up and keep going” in order to achieve what we want. These kinds of experiences are worth earning practices that don’t always deliver the results we want.

What if we are already worthy and deserving and all we are meant to do is to allow our desires to come to reality? For sure we’ll take action and participate in the creation of our business but the Universe does play a part in it and we participate in the plan the Universe has for us, instead of “taking control” of everything and pretend to make it all happen on our own.

It is a completely different outlook of life.

What is the most common dynamic? Struggle, hardship, fighting, and then, when you believe you can’t do it anymore. You may even be ready to give up. Then, what happens? A breakthrough!

We tend to believe that the breakthrough was a payoff from our hard work but what if the breakthrough happened because we finally let go of control and allowed our desire to happen? We actually got out of our own way.

When we are able to accept and trust that we are worthy and deserving of what we want, inherently, the way life, and in this case our business, develops can be a happy, exciting, and interesting experience.
