If I ask you right now “how is your business doing?” what would you respond?
Listen intently to what you respond whether in your head or with your actual words.
As we have spoken before, everything is created from the inside out, not the other way around. As we keep telling the story of what we see, we keep recreating the same experience over and over again. That is one of the reasons we feel “stuck” because we observe what is happening, and we just keep attracting it so it doesn’t seem to change at all.
I know the most common argument about what I just said in the previous paragraph: “I have to be realistic. I have to be honest”. I have two views on this response.
One, for some reason there is this belief that we must only communicate those experiences that can be confirmed by any of our five senses. Those experiences need to be seen, smelled, heard, tasted or touched and if it’s not, then they are just not true. So, if you are doing great in your business, you can openly talk about it and continue to attract it. But, what happens if you are not there yet? What happens if you are just starting? What happens if you are having a difficult month?
On the other hand, the story we tell about our business also depends on how hard we are on ourselves or how positive or not we are with what we have created. We can be doing great but since it may not be considered enough, the story can go on a downward spiral. The opposite is true as well.
Last month we spoke about our focus, beliefs and emotions. Our emotions being our guidance system letting us know what we are attracting into our lives.
So, when you answer that question (how is your business doing?), how do you feel as you respond? Is it a positive uplifting response? Or does it remind you that you are not where you want to be and just made you uncomfortable or even mad?
Something to think about…
My second view on this response is that we are kind of forgetting that we are also spiritual. We are body, mind and, spirit. If we respond considering only what our five senses can confirm as the truth, then we are leaving out our spiritual side and that is our side where our creations reside!
Again, it’s all created from the inside out. We decide what we want, and whether consciously or unconsciously we focus on it in our minds to later be inspired to take actions that will allow that desire to manifest in our reality, where we will actually see it, taste it, smell it, touch it or, hear it.
We can say that the moment we ask for our desired business, it is granted. The Universe (or God or however you call that part of you) responds with a yes and has it all ready for you energetically or vibrationally. What we have to do is to align with that already-created reality so it moves from being a vibrational reality to a physical reality. Are you with me?
How do we become aligned with it? By focusing on it in a way we feel it as if it already happened physically. Imagination is key to become familiar and comfortable to that version of our business that we want. Play with the details in your mind, pretend it is yours, imagine it all exactly as you want it and notice but most of all, enjoy how it feels. This is how you start expecting what you want by practicing it in your mind enough times that you start to believe and expect those experiences.
Does that make sense?
If we keep talking about what is present in our physical reality, we are not aligning with what we already created vibrationally.
Now, I don’t want you to feel like you are lying to people however, you don’t need to present financial statements (I am exaggerating) every time you are asked about your business. Whenever you feel you need to be honest, I invite you to focus on and respond about the things you appreciate about your business. Those things you already have and love. Or, exciting projects you are currently working on. That is always a good way to go. The point is always look for something that will make YOU feel good about your business and if necessary, you don’t feel you are being dishonest.
Sometimes the questions do not come from outside but are rather in your head. It is you repeating the story in your mind of how well or how bad your business is doing. So, since now you know you are attracting that story, what story are you going to tell yourself now?
Your business specifics
If we get even more detailed, let me ask you few questions:
- How important is what you offer?
- Do you believe people see how important it is?
- How in love are you with the service or product that you offer?
- Do you feel people need or should have what you offer?
- Do you believe it works?
- Would you go and buy it?
- If you have a website, do you love it?
- If you have a sales funnel, do you see it as optimal?
- When you see what you’ve created, do you like it?
- When you see your prices, do you feel they are fair, cheap or expensive?
- Do you believe people will love it enough to buy it?
- Can you say that you are really good at what you do or do you need people to say that to you?
- Do you see yourself making money with it, good money with it?
If you believe in your product but believe it will be hard to sell, it doesn’t work. Or if you think selling is easy but the product can be better, it doesn’t work well either.
I have a client who started a continuing education business. He is an outstanding teacher. He started offering courses that were unique and innovative yet needed. He did have some business but he kept repeating to himself “my courses are top notch but expensive compared to what people are used to pay for continuing education in my field”. And guess what, he was being approached by people who were very interested in his courses and were telling him those very same words: your courses are amazing, it is what we need but they are expensive so I can’t take them right now or my employer won’t pay for them. People would even continue saying: but keep it up because I think this is really needed.
Isn’t it incredible how we “broadcast” our own marketing? I say “broadcasting” because you are not saying it with your words yet, the energy people will feel from you is saying what you think and feel about your business. It is all a reflection! AND this is how powerful we are!
If you ever received an answer that you were afraid to receive, and when you got it you said: “I knew he/she would say (fill in the blank)“. Well, now you know why… J
So, what is marketing? Let’s look at the Google Dictionary definition:
“The action or business of promoting and selling products or services, including market research and advertising.”
As entrepreneurs we spend time and money on marketing. In some cases to learn it and in other cases we spend money on hiring experts that will help us achieve those goals we set on our business. All that is good and important. But now you know, that all your marketing effort is a reflection of how you feel about your business.
If you invest money in marketing but you are unsure about your prices or your products, it is as if you are showing people what you have but in small letters it reads “I am not sure you should buy it though”.
But if you are in love with what you offer, in love with how your business has developed and continues to do so, then your marketing efforts are very much backed up by your purpose and your intentions with your business. In this case, when your prospects read the small letters, they will read “you cannot wait to have this on your hands. It is the best in the market and it will the best for you”.
Please note that I am not saying that you will not work on your business. Actions will be taken, for sure, but this is the foundation work. This work is from where everything takes off.
I know it requires trust to create our business this way. There is a lot of noise out there about how we should be going about our businesses but, there is a better way, if we dare to believe it and trust that it works. Of course, it is also important that you trust that we are worthy of living life this way. It is definitely a different way to create what we want but it is possible and we probably already experienced it in other areas of our lives.
